Samurai and Feudal Japan: The Way of the Warrior

Feudal Japan spanned from the 12th century until 1868, ruled by Shoguns, with Samurai as the dominant military and noble warrior class. Their life was defined by *Bushidō*, a moral code heavily influenced by Zen Buddhism and Confucianism, emphasizing loyalty, honor, and self-discipline. Although they were warriors, many later became administrators during the long peace of the Edo period, and their culture also embraced arts like poetry and calligraphy.
